Aldi voted Australia’s favourite supermarket amid cost of living crisis

Aldi is Australia’s top-rated supermarket, and the retailer continues to fight for low prices amid Australia’s ongoing cost of living crisis.

Canstar Blue conducted a survey of 2582 customers about the biggest supermarkets in Canada as part of its annual Supermarket Ratings.

Aldi is the only brand that received five stars in terms of overall satisfaction, value, freshness, quality of private-label products, and availability of specials/deals.

The German supermarket giant is now in its sixth consecutive year as the top-ranked retailer and has won 11 awards since the awards were first presented 13 years ago.

Aldi Australia Group Director Simon Padovani Ginies said that the retailer was proud to maintain its leadership in customer satisfaction and loyalty at a critical time.

He said that Aldi had won the hearts of Australian shoppers by offering high-quality products at low prices.

The fact that we are the only supermarket to receive a five-star rating shows how our commitment day in and day out to provide market-leading products at high-quality prices resonates with our customers.

“We will not be beaten by anyone on the price of our weekly shop.”

Mr. Padovani Ginies said that “every aspect of our business is focused to deliver quality products at unbelievable low prices.”

He said, “This recognition and acknowledgement further cements our commitment.”

Aldi’s many Australian suppliers are proud to say that customers deserve great value when they shop for groceries.

Canstar Blue’s editor-in-chief, Christine Seib, says value for money is the top priority for Australian families right now.

She said that Aldi’s value, specials, and freshness are hard to beat in an environment of higher living.

Comparing the Market conducted a recent survey that found that grocery bills were the top financial concern of a third (32%), beating out mortgage, rent, and energy costs, which came in at 24, 15, 2, and 7.7%, respectively.

Data shows that the average weekly grocery cost in September 2021 is $169.35. This has risen to $184.21 by June 2022 and now stands at $199.46.

Noemi Hanagy, a spokesperson for Compare the Market, said that a perfect storm was responsible for the skyrocketing price.

She said that the average Australian spends around $864 per month or $10,732 per year on groceries.

“[That] adds up if we take into account the rise in rent and mortgage rates, along with high energy bills, and insurance renewals.”
