It’s post-lunch. You stare at your computer screen. Your taste buds are begging for something sweet. It’s a familiar place, but it won’t do today.
You’re looking for something different. Well, taste.com.au has you covered.
Tastefood specialists have figured out a way to make the elusive afternoon snack – Mars bar slices – even in an office.
It is also easy to make at home.
What exactly is a Mars Bar slice?
The Mars bar slice, made with the most popular chocolate bar in the world, is basically a melted Mars mixed with butter, rice bubbles, and extra melted chocolate, then spread out on a tray and chilled in the refrigerator to form a slice.
No baking, no fuss. Maximum taste. It’s crunchy, caramel-y and chunky.

If you are going by the office’s slim pickings like we were, then it is possible to use some more relaxed measurements.
As a rough guide, I used whatever was “lying around” in the office. So, two Mars bars, a cup or so of Kellogg’s rice bubbles, and about 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter. Cadbury milk chocolate to melt over the top.
Tasty poured it into the bottom of a Tupperware container and put it in the refrigerator for one hour. We cut it into pieces and enjoyed it over a cup of tea. Goodbye afternoon, slump.
Julia, one of the Mars bar makers in the office, offers this tip: “The Mars bars might take some time to melt and become a smooth consistency. So be patient while microwaving.” Stir in 30-second intervals.
